Event Management

CORE EVENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

The focus of your Higher Diploma provides the fundamentals of event planning, coordination and delivery. You'll learn how to build event planning timelines, develop budgets for events, apply project management principles to event planning, source, select and coordinate event suppliers, services and contractors, source and recommend venues, undertake event feasibility studies, set goals and evaluate event success measures, develop risk assessments, apply health and safety legislation, undertake client consultations, develop sponsorship packages, produce sustainable events, understand event production and promoting and marketing events. 

Unique to the Higher Diploma is the one-month internship placement where students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an event environment, e.g. with an event organiser, planner, agency, vendor or venue.

 

The Higher Diploma also offers higher level units in volunteer management, crowd management, workforce planning, international event management, corporate hospitality and event concept.

 

Developing critical thinking and analytical skills, in their final term, Higher Diploma students will undertake an individual research project developing and pitching an event concept and creating comprehensive operations, sustainability and marketing plans.

MARKETING STREAM

Your Marketing studies support your event management skills as you'll develop a knowledge and understanding of the marketing functions that every event manager should be familiar with.  Learn about market segments and identifying opportunities for new products/services and how to exploit new market opportunities. Understand how competitor activity may affect projected sales performance, and how to use market analysis to inform market strategy development. Learn how legal, regulatory and ethical requirements relate to the business of selling or marketing and gain insight into key requirements for leading a marketing team.

Internship
Placement

Our one-year, full-time Higher Diploma in Event Management programme includes a One Month Internship Placement. An Internship offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an event environment, e.g. with an event organiser, planner, agency, vendor or venue.

More About the Internship Programme:

  • The placement is for a minimum 20 hours per week for 4 weeks and takes place in June

  • The Internship can be undertaken in London, the UK or overseas

  • Your Course Leader will be available throughout your Internship for any guidance needed regarding your Internship

  • The Event School London will support students in sourcing their placements through their extensive network, through the 'Managing Self Development' Unit and via the student's 1-2-1 Mentoring sessions.

  • The Internship Placement is assessed via a reflective journal and an oral presentation evaluating your professional and personal growth from the experience.
