Updated: May 22, 2020

What could be more fitting on event guru Roger Hooker's 23rd anniversary in the event, sports and venue management industry, than to share some of the wonderful feedback we received from his virtual guest speaking spot last week.

Here's what our Online Event Management students took away from their session last week with guest speaker Roger...

Roger in Saudi Arabia for Formula E Production

"Roger had very interesting thoughts - to create your story, to be seen, to be networking..."

"I learnt that no matter what...good team work keeps all staff motivated"

"Having a passion for the industry is very important for you to flourish."

"That in every situation or crisis you need to be agile, flexible and adaptable"

"It is important to build a connections, get involved in discussion and pitch yourself well."

"Understanding the importance of risk management in the events industry"

"I am very new in this field so without any experience, I must say...a huge knowledge of event management, with all those inputs, certainly motivated me, of being one (an event manager) in the near future." "...excellent and inspiring! I am also happy that we can connect...through their LinkedIn, especially for me who wants to be part of International Events or Events in the UK."

And an overall star rating of ⭐4.8 - the highest we have ever received for a guest speaker yet!

We were very appreciative of Roger sharing his time and experience with our online class, who benefited from his diverse international experience, which includes his current role as Head of Production for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Roger is a major international event operations professional, experienced in strategic senior leadership roles as an event owner & promoter, venue operator and event services provider.

Other of Roger's career highlights include senior roles for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, the 1st European Olympic Games Baku, Azerbaijan, Wembley Stadium Ltd, Ascot Racecourse and at the Singapore Sports Hub.

Roger also consulted as an Ambassador International Sporting and Entertainment Events for TAFE QLD (Australia's largest training provider), providing industry leader insight for students and teachers, in particular regarding the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games for which TAFE QLD was the main training partner.

As always, our industry is amazing in their support of developing talent in the industry! And for now, while Covid is around, guest speaking on our online classes is where they are supporting event students form all around the world!

Thanks again Roger for sharing your expertise.
