Welcome to the first day of Summer Term 2026 at The Event School London.

Throughout July, students come together in the Royal Docks to develop practical skills, learn from experienced professionals and explore new opportunities across events, weddings, sports, marketing, leadership and venue management.

This summer, we are welcoming students from Turkey, Egypt, Canada, Nigeria and across Europe, alongside participants travelling from different parts of London and the UK.

Participants are changing careers, developing specialist expertise or adding new skills to support their professional progression.

This range of backgrounds, experience and perspectives is an important part of the Summer Term experience.

Students learn not only from their lecturers, but also from one another, sharing ideas, comparing approaches and building connections with people who have travelled to London with similar ambitions.

Practical Summer Courses in London

Our Summer Programmes are designed for those who want focused, practical learning within a real-world industry context.

Through intensive one, two or four-week programmes, students can build industry-relevant skills, strengthen their planning and decision-making, and develop the confidence to communicate professionally within their chosen field.

Depending on the course, students may work on practical briefs, planning activities, presentations, case studies and industry-focused projects. This gives them the opportunity to leave with tangible work, ideas and experience that can support a CV, portfolio, business or future job applications.

Our summer courses are suitable for aspiring event professionals, recent graduates, career changers and those already working in events, hospitality or related industries who want to deepen or broaden their expertise.

Learn from Experienced Industry Professionals

A key part of Summer Term is the opportunity to learn directly from professionals who bring current industry experience into the classroom.

This year’s teaching team includes event directors, venue and hospitality consultants, luxury brand specialists, wedding planners, digital marketing professionals and senior industry leaders.

Students will learn from lecturers including Nick Oxborrow, Rachel Williams, Medina Williamson, Craig Wapnick, Siobhàn Craven-Robins and Amira Akhmetova, each bringing specialist insight from their own area of professional practice.

Their sessions are shaped by real experiences, industry expectations and the practical realities of working with clients, venues, suppliers, teams and audiences.

Students can explore not only how events and campaigns are planned, but how professionals make decisions, solve problems, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards from concept through to delivery.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Summer Term is also an opportunity to experience London as a learning environment.

Our programmes are delivered at Good Hotel London and Novotel London ExCeL, placing students in the heart of the Royal Docks, one of London’s most distinctive business, events and cultural districts.

The waterfront setting offers a contemporary environment for learning, with excellent connections to central London through Custom House station on the Elizabeth line and DLR.

Selected courses also include site tours, professional visits and opportunities to learn within event and venue environments. These experiences allow students to see how the principles discussed in class are applied in practice.

Meeting professionals during site visits can provide valuable insight into venue operations, event delivery, career pathways and the wide range of roles available within the industry.

Building Connections and Confidence

For many students, the value of a summer course extends beyond the subject knowledge they gain.

Intensive programmes create a strong sense of camaraderie. Students work closely with their classmates, exchange ideas and support one another through practical activities and group projects.

This can be particularly valuable for those entering a new industry or changing career direction.

Learning alongside others who are also exploring new opportunities can make the experience more engaging, collaborative and rewarding.

By the end of their course, students often leave with a stronger professional vocabulary, a clearer understanding of their chosen field and greater confidence in the contribution they can make.

Choose a Course That Supports Your Next Step

A summer course can provide a focused way to test a new career direction, develop knowledge in a specialist area or strengthen existing professional experience.

  • For those already working, it can offer concentrated professional development without the commitment of a longer programme.

  • For career changers, it can help translate existing skills into a new industry context.

  • For aspiring event professionals, it can provide a practical introduction to the standards, language and expectations of the sector.

Summer Term is about more than studying a subject. It is an opportunity to step into a professional learning environment, meet people from different countries and backgrounds, and gain a clearer sense of where your skills and interests could take you.

We look forward to welcoming our Summer Term students to London and seeing the ideas, connections and professional ambitions that develop throughout July.
