Course Content - ATHE Level 4 Diploma in Sports Management

 

Introduction to the Sports and Leisure Sector

Explore the structure and scope of the sports and leisure industries, including public, private and voluntary provision. You will examine key stakeholders, governance, economic impact, participation barriers and current trends shaping the sector, giving you a strong contextual understanding of how sports organisations function.

 

Principles of Management and Human Resourcing

This unit introduces the key principles of management and how they are applied in real organisations, including planning, organising, leading and controlling. You will also explore core areas of human resource management such as recruitment, training, performance management and employee engagement, and understand how effective people management supports organisational success.

 

Sales and Marketing

Introducing the core principles of marketing and sales, exploring how marketing functions operate. Learn how to analyse markets and audiences, apply the marketing mix, and understand the sales process, including personal selling and negotiation.

 

Professional and Academic Skills

Focuses on developing the academic and workplace skills needed for successful study and professional performance. Explore the skills employers value, assess your own strengths and areas for development, and build greater self-awareness to support your progress both during the programme and in the workplace.

The following entry requirements apply:

• Minimum age: 18
• Competent English Language skills (comprehension, reading, written and spoken) E.g. IELTs 5.5 or equivalent

 

And at least one of the following:

• 5 or more IGCSE / GCSEs or 1 A Level

• Achieved 12 years of schooling (i.e. having completed high school)

• Pass in any Level 3 qualification

• An access to higher education certificate delivered by an approved further education institute and validated by access validating agency

• Other equivalent international qualifications,  E.g. Baccalaureate

Assessment is undertaken through a combination of research assignments and applied skills projects.

The Lecturer for each unit of study will allocate class time  to ensure  students understand the requirements of the assessments.

While you will be working on assessments throughout your course, the final assessment submissions are due four weeks after your course completion. We continue to offer virtual, phone and email support during this time.
