During your 2-day Destination Wedding Planning MasterClass course you will study the following topics:

 

MODULE 1 – SPECIALISING IN DESTINATION WEDDINGS

• Are you based at the location, or are you and your clients travelling to another location?
• Are you specialising in a country or type of wedding? e.g. beach, castle, skiing, exotic, safari, winter, summer, Italy, Mauritius, Europe? Which areas are well catered for and which would require your expertise?
• Will you offer a luxury package or a bespoke experience?
• How will you get paid when working with other currencies? Is commission viable?
• What budgets will you be working with or need to work with?
• Will you recommend certain locations or venues or will you recce dependent on client spec? Who pays for that?
• Your responsibilities
• Why clients opt for a destination wedding (ensure their motives are viable) 
• What does their budget include: guest/family accom and flights, vendors accom & flights, experiences for guests other than on the wedding day
• The guest experience
• Managing expectations – cultural differences and challenges

 

MODULE 2 – THE RESEARCH

• Wedding fairs, exhibitions – both here and in UK – virtual ones
• What is available in the UK?
• Getting a contact on the ground
• Will you know your locations and venues beforehand or will you research on demand. How to research.
• What can you get there? Dancefloor, lights, linen, good kit, metalwork
• Finding luxury venues
• What airlines fly there – how accessible is it?
• Do they have a flower market etc – how much do you need to import
• Familiarise yourself with public holidays and religious days and festivals so you don’t organise a wedding when nothing’s open or clashes with a big festival. Know their calendar.
• Does the ceremony you are proposing fit with their culture eg not cause offence
• Is the wedding party and guest attire appropriate to the location?

Back in 1995, Siobhan recognised a gap in the market for designated co-ordinators to help couples through the wedding planning process saving them time, money and disappointment. Siobhan is acknowledged in the industry as the UK’s first Wedding Planner.

 

Siobhan is now established as one of the UK’s leading wedding co-ordinators. Her beautiful weddings have featured in Hello, OK! and many bridal magazines in various countries around the world. Her famous clients include Joan Collins, Barbara Windsor, Greg Kinnear, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, Des O’Connor and Ronni Ancona.

 

She was GMTV’s resident wedding expert and featured on the show for the Interactive wedding (2002-2006) where she designed various aspects of a wedding for the viewers to vote on.

 

Siobhan writes for various wedding magazines and is frequently requested as a speaker at business seminars and wedding shows. She is also frequently hired as a consultant for wedding related TV and radio shows, new venues and other suppliers within the wedding industry.

 

In 2005 she launched her DVD, ‘From This Day Forward’, a guide to planning the perfect wedding.

 

In 2013, with two of her industry colleagues, she founded National Association of Wedding Professionals; an association promoting professionalism and integrity within the UK Wedding Industry. The association has gone from strength to strength, boasting a high calibre membership and starting to be regarded as a benchmark for professionalism within the UK industry.

 

Siobhan now spends some of her time guest lecturing to Event Course/Degree students at various colleges and universities in London.
