Thank you to Nick Davion for joining our students as a guest speaker and sharing his career story, professional insights and advice for those starting out in the events industry.

Nick spoke about his journey through venue operations, operational readiness and complex event planning, giving students a valuable perspective on what it takes to prepare, manage and deliver major events at scale.

His session offered insight into the challenges and opportunities of working across high-pressure, time-critical projects, from international sporting events and expos to conferences and festivals.

Guest speakers bring the realities of the industry into the classroom, helping students understand not only what event professionals do, but how they think, plan, communicate and lead when the stakes are high.

🔊 About Nick

Nick Davion brings over 25 years of experience delivering and managing complex venue operations and time-critical event projects.

Nick has held senior operational and venue leadership roles on major international projects, including COP28 in Dubai, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, World Defense Show 2024 in Riyadh, Expo 2020 New Zealand Pavilion, Glasgow 2014, and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

His career also includes roles with ExCeL London’s start-up team, Ashgabat 2017, AIMAG, Volvo Ocean Race Auckland Stopover 2015, and the Abu Dhabi Open Masters Series 2026.

Alongside his events and venue expertise, Nick is also an Ocean Yachtmaster, bringing an additional layer of leadership, discipline and operational judgement to his work.

It takes years of hands-on experience to reach the level Craig has achieved as Event Director of the Go2Sea Mountain Bike Event.

As an expert currently practising in his field, and an Associate Lecturer with The Event School London, Craig brings relevant, real-world insight directly into the classroom.
