Degree Alternative Programme in Event Management

The Degree Alternative is designed primarily for school leavers and career starters who want a comprehensive and practical route into the events industry, while also providing a strong option for mature applicants looking to make a significant career change.

Degree Alternative Students attending a live event

Studied over one year, the programme progresses through ATHE Levels 4, 5 and 6, combining structured academic development with practical industry experience.

Students study three days per week in London and take part in live event planning and delivery, industry visits and showcases, alongside three specialist electives that allow them to explore different areas of the events industry.

The programme also includes a one-month internship, providing valuable experience in a professional environment and the opportunity to build confidence, industry understanding and workplace connections.

Who is it best for?

This route is particularly suited to students who are at the beginning of their career and want time to build their knowledge, confidence, professional experience and industry connections.

It offers a broader and more progressive learning journey than a short course, making it a strong option for those who want to develop from foundation level through to Level 6.

It can also be an excellent choice for mature applicants making a significant career change who want a comprehensive programme that gives them time to build both industry knowledge and practical experience.

Postgraduate Level Programme in Event Management

Our Postgraduate Level programme is designed for graduates and experienced applicants who are ready to study event management at a more advanced strategic level.

The six-month programme is studied three days per week in London and leads to an ATHE Level 7 qualification.

Alongside advanced event management study, students take part in live event planning and delivery, industry visits and showcases, and complete two specialist electives.

Who is it best for?

This route is suited to applicants who already hold a degree, Level 6 qualification or have substantial relevant professional experience (3 years+).

It is particularly appropriate for those looking to strengthen their strategic understanding of the events industry, develop more advanced professional capability or reposition their existing experience towards a career in events.

Advanced Diploma in Event Management

The Advanced Diploma offers an intensive three-month programme for career changers and professionals who want focused, practical event management training.

Students study three days per week in London and develop their knowledge of contemporary event management while gaining insight into the industry through visits, showcases and a specialist elective.

Who is it best for?

This programme is particularly well suited to those who already bring transferable skills, professional experience or previous study and want to build event-specific expertise in a concentrated period of time.

It offers a focused route for those ready to make their next career move and develop the practical knowledge needed to work confidently within the events industry.

How Do You Choose Between the Three?

A useful starting point is to consider your current level of experience.

If you are leaving school, beginning your career or looking for a comprehensive and practical career change programme, the Degree Alternative provides a substantial development pathway, progressing through Levels 4, 5 and 6 over one year.

If you already have graduate-level qualifications or substantial professional experience, the Postgraduate Level programme allows you to progress directly to Level 7 study.

If you are changing career or already have transferable professional skills and want an intensive route into events, the Advanced Diploma provides focused training over three months.

The duration is different, but so is the starting point. Each programme has been structured for a different type of student rather than as a hierarchy of better or lesser options.
