Our Managing Events as Projects MasterClass recently welcomed guest speaker Sharifa Wilkinson. Sharifa spoke to the group about her past and current roles with major events worldwide, and what it's like project managing aspects of highly complex events.
The class participants were event managers wanting to apply a project management methodology to their planning, taught by Nick Oxborrow at the Novotel Hotel ExCeL London.
As well as learning from Sharifa's project management expertise and experience, we also now know what an event's Last Mile really is!
Many thanks Sharifa for taking the time to develop talent and skills in the industry.
Sharifa is currently the Last Mile Lead at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, with Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. We are delighted Sharifa will be sharing her experience with our MasterClass in Managing Events as Projects class this October as she discusses the reality of project managing aspects of high volume, complex events.
Bringing an international perspective to her discussions, Sharifa has travelled all over the world, working on world class sporting events in Canada, the United States and Australia.
Sharifa has worked for the Organising Committee in the Functional Areas of Venue Management and Games Operations Planning for three international multi-sport events; The 2015 Pan/ Parapan Am Games, 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 Arafura Games.
Adding to her significant major sports event management experience, Sharifa has also held roles as the Senior Venue Operations Manager at Tower Bridge (London) and as a Lecturer in Sport Management at St Mary's University, Twickenham
