Students on our Summer Term event management courses recently visited Andaz London Liverpool Street for an industry site tour led by lecturer Nick Oxborrow.
The visit gave students the opportunity to examine how a major London hotel manages meetings, private functions (parties and weddings), corporate events (conferences, exhibitions and product launches) and hospitality experiences within a busy commercial setting.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Practical exposure is an important part of studying event management at The Event School London.
During the tour:
Students considered how event spaces are presented, adapted and operated for different clients.
They also explored areas such as guest experience, venue logistics, service standards, access, capacity and the coordination required between event organisers, suppliers and hotel teams.
Experiencing these environments first-hand helps students understand how planning decisions work in practice.
It also gives them the confidence to ask informed questions and begin thinking with the perspective of an event professional.
Direct Industry Insight

Students heard from Andaz Head of Events, Karan Kundra, who shared insight into venue operations, client expectations and the details that influence the delivery of successful events.
This type of direct engagement allows students to learn from professionals working within the London event industry.
It adds context to classroom subjects and helps them recognise the standards expected in contemporary event roles.
Our sincere thanks to Karan, Andaz London Liverpool Street and Hyatt for generously sharing their time and expertise.
A Practical Route into Event Management

We also offer short courses and professional development programmes for people who want to strengthen their knowledge, expand their responsibilities or progress within an existing event role.
