Ollie Morris has been “In Conversation with…” Yara Abdallah, one of our online Certificate in Sports Event Management course graduates, and she has an amazing career story to tell plus some great tips for getting ahead in the sports event industry.
Yara shares her career highlights and challenges, and stresses the importance of experience and connections in getting ahead in the industry. She also strongly recommends to those starting out that they volunteer and try to volunteer internationally if they can.
We loved Yara’s comments on her course with us and her trainer Sharifa Wilkinson. Yara shares her thoughts on taking live classes online (she loved the interaction with the trainer and classmates) and on who was her most memorable guest speaker.
Yara’s dedication to finding the right path for her in major sports events was there from the very beginning when she volunteered with the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil, the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil and then the ultimate volunteer opportunity - the 2016 Rio de Haneiro Olympics.
We loved having Yara join us in May and we look forward to staying in touch and following her career which we know will be stellar!
