There's also plenty of land-based options including scenic running and cycling paths that border the water. Or join the Quad Club at the Crowne Plaza ExCeL for a swim, gym, sauna or steam room. And in the summer, the West End of the Royal Victoria Docks turns into a beach! Student run events can offer some additional fun - like this student planned and hosted raft building race and after party event below: In Need of Retail Therapy or a Quick Change of Just three minutes by train on the Elizabeth Line and you'll find yourself in Canary Wharf, aka London's "Little Manhattan"! • Inspiration from Entrepreneur, Cécile Mazuet-Eller from NameSwitch.

It's not every day that we have the privilege of hosting a speaker who not only brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table but also inspires and captivates an audience with their journey and innovation. The Event School London recently had the honor of welcoming Cécile Mazuet-Eller, the Founder & Managing Director of NameSwitch, and we're still buzzing from the experience! Cécile's journey is nothing short of inspiring. With a solid 20-year background in Networking & Telecoms, she encountered a personal challenge that sparked a brilliant idea. Frustrated by the complexities of changing her name post-marriage, Cécile saw an opportunity in this challenge. Taking a brave leap into the vibrant wedding industry, she launched NameSwitch in 2017, a UK-first service that seamlessly blends extensive market knowledge with smart automation to simplify the name-changing process for newlyweds. The story of NameSwitch is a testament to innovation and customer-focused service. Established, developed, and supported right here in the UK, the company boasts a passionate and experienced team that has been integral since its conception in 2015. What stands out about NameSwitch is its unwavering commitment to customer service, a commitment that is reflected in their Feefo 5-star rating. This rating is not just a number; it represents the time, effort, and hassle saved for thousands of couples embarking on their name change journey post-marriage. During her session, Cécile shared insightful details about the diverse ways NameSwitch assists individuals - from the traditional Miss to Mrs changes to more complex scenarios like The Double-Barrel or crafting a completely new team name. Significantly, NameSwitch also supports women who wish to maintain their maiden name professionally or adopt it as a new middle name, and they assist men in their name changing endeavors too. What perhaps struck a chord with many of our students was the sheer scope of NameSwitch's operations. With over 700 UK government bodies and companies mapped on their systems, NameSwitch’s easy-to-use website, packed with blog posts and practical guides, is a gold mine of information and support. Cécile also touched on the company's commitment to scaling their operations while maintaining the personal touch and attention to detail that their clients cherish. As an institution dedicated to educating and empowering the next generation of event professionals, The Event School London is profoundly grateful for the knowledge and insights Cécile shared with our students. Her story is a brilliant example of how to identify a niche market, create a solution, and build a successful business around it. Thank you, Cécile Mazuet-Eller, for your invaluable contribution and for providing inspiration to our students. Your journey from experiencing a personal challenge to becoming a trailblazer in the wedding industry is a powerful reminder of the impact one can make with determination, innovation, and a customer-centric approach. As you can imagine, I’ve worn many hats over this period, growing personally and professionally - both under my own steam, and with the help of some great mentors (and a few bad ones for good measure). I've been in the driving seat from a young age, generating significant growth in revenue, operational systems and popularity for every business I've worked with, including iconic venues, global hospitality brands, the UKs biggest club events and independent agencies. I've been lucky enough to work with highly renowned brands such as Google, Mulberry, Michelin, BBC, L'Oreal, Pretty Little Thing and Zurich, as well as artists such as Stormzy, Fatboy Slim, Skepta, Peggy Gou and Mark Ronson to name a few. Now, I find myself here: An extremely well-rounded leader in my field, with extensive experience across a broad range of industry sectors and disciplines. I'm a natural protagonist who's found their groove managerially; I love working with people and know how to get the best out of those around me. But, I also enjoy being hands-on with my work, and have a strategic commercial understanding of how various businesses operate, grow and drive revenue, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of current trends and culture. I'm passionate about creating and producing stand-out experiences and activations that tick the boxes for all stakeholders, and am very comfortable managing sizeable budgets, juggling multiple projects and forging strong and long-lasting relationships with the people around me." #InspirationalTeacher #TheEventSchoolLondon #QualityEducation #EventManagement #EventProduction #MusicEvents #EventPlanning

  • A Glimpse into the World of Private Clubs: Event Management Class Visits The Lansdowne Club Mayfair

The Event School London believe that theoretical knowledge must always be complemented by practical experience. That's why we were thrilled to recently take our Event Management evening class on a site tour of The Lansdowne Club, a prestigious private members club located in the heart of Mayfair. A Walk Through History With its rich heritage dating back to 1763, The Lansdowne Club offers an eclectic mix of the historic and the contemporary. Re-imagined as a leading private members' club in 1935, it has been welcoming men and women with equal status ever since. Our students were fascinated by the stylish décor, exquisite art, and the seamless service provided by the knowledgeable team at The Lansdowne Club. Walking through the club was like stepping into a time capsule, with each room telling a story of a different era. An Invaluable Learning Experience We want to express our deepest gratitude to the team at The Lansdowne Club for taking the time to show our event management students around their amazing venue. It was an invaluable experience that allowed our students to see first-hand the meticulous attention to detail and high level of professionalism required to run such a prestigious establishment. A Venue for Every Occasion The Lansdowne Club boasts a variety of function rooms suited to different types of events. From private dining and celebrations to conferences and meetings, there's a room for every occasion. Our students were particularly amazed by the 18th-century Ballroom, private dining rooms, and meeting rooms equipped with full conferencing facilities. This tour was a unique opportunity for our students to understand the complexities of managing diverse event spaces and learn how to tailor their planning approach to fit the specific requirements of each space. Building the Future of Event Management At The Event School London, we are deeply appreciative of the support we receive from the event industry in developing future talent. We believe that these real-world experiences give our event management course students a unique edge, equipping them with practical insights and a deeper understanding of the industry they are about to step into. We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Lansdowne Club for their invaluable contribution to our Event Management evening class. It's partnerships like these that help us prepare our students for a successful career in event management. Stay tuned for more updates from The Event School London!
